Debut Album

“Feminista Manifestó” is a 15-track album that captures more layers to Celesté Martinez story, her identity as a Queer Chicana, and intersectional feminist politics. This collection of songs includes a combination of original works and intentionally selected covers that captures the band’s unique sound of Latin Folk and Riot Grrrl Punk Rock. The aspiration is for this debut album to be as accessible as a Riot Grrrl zine- something that can be picked up and flipped through leaving an impression, a question, a point of curiosity.

Machista

This punk song with some western flair is about how if people are not conscious of the ways patriarchy manifests itself then they can unconsciously perpetuate this system of oppression. The chorus specifically calls out people who identify with feminism and repeats the Spanish term “machista,” which can be translated into English as “sexist,” to invoke self-reflection.

Feminism is Intersectional

This pop punk song is about how feminism is a collective liberatory effort, and how the waves of this movement evolved to become intersectional. The lyrics emphasize how the feminist movement is made up of a wide range of diverse actors to truly achieve the social change needed to destroy the patriarchy and all other forms of systemic oppression.

Break Out EP

This sophomore EP of Soy Celesté features her full band sound. This is a collection of songs is about breaking out of toxic patterns and relationships so something new can emerge.

I’ll Tell You What

This grunge song comes from the memory of how it felt for Celesté to receive a handwritten letter from an ex, who claimed that she was a fraud. The lyrics tell the story of the impact the letter had on Celesté’s mindset, and what ultimately pushed her to end this toxic relationship and dispell these harmful beliefs.

This pop punk song focuses on how our bodies first belong to ourselves and it is our prerogative to remember this truth in the ongoing fight for reproductive justice! This single was released in honor of the 50th anniversary of Roe v Wade in January 2023.

Unwinding

This debut EP “Unwinding” is a collection of songs that describe what it feels like to undo entanglements that can come with the end of a tremulous and volatile relationship. As Celesté found herself navigating a sudden and intense divorce in 2021, she turned to song writing. Each song encapsulates the emotions and memories  Celesté experienced at various points of this separation, which ultimately catalyzed her to embrace a renewed sense of life.
